Sinton ISD Wins Big at Coastal Bend Engineering Competition

Sinton High School working on their device during competition.

On Saturday March 3, Sinton ISD STEM students from the middle school and high school participated at the Coastal Bend Engineering Competition at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. Each team was given a task of building two telegraphic device using pre-assigned materials. After the completion, each team had to present their devices to the panel of judges and explain the design and the construction process. The teams also had to transmit two messages to demonstrate the team’s code and the use of the device and transmission ability. Our students did a great job of completing their task, presenting their product to the judges, and transmitting and decoding messages . At the end, Sinton ISD completely dominated the competition. Our high school team came in 2nd place, our 8th grade received third place, and our 7th grade received the 1st place. A huge thank you and congratulations to our sponsors Mrs. Pena, Ms. Mahan, Mr. Soliz, Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Rodriguez AND their students for doing such a phenomenal job!!!!our 1st and 2nd place winners will advance to attend the Engineering Design Fair in Harlingen, Texas on May 5, 2012.
