Engineering Competition Wins a 1st Place Title…Again!

The 2nd Annual Coastal Bend Engineering Competition was held March 8th, 2014 at at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.  Sinton ISD STEM Academy entered three middle school teams and three  high school teams who were put to the challenge of building the best kite design.

This  contest  required students to use their critical thinking skills … and a little fun was thrown in to the mix! Students were given a set amount of time to build the kite.  They were judged on everything from the construction of the kite, to how well they worked in a team, and if it actually flew!  This gave our students a look into a future in engineering, as well.

8th graders at EM Smith Middle School won
1st place in the Middle School Division
.
They are now qualified for the Enginnering Design Fair at
South Texas College in McAllen, TX on April 26, 2014.
